If you realize you could benefit from professional guidance, perhaps we can begin to work together right away. Gold Leaf Press can help you throughout each phase of your endeavor.
There are three tiers to Gold Leaf Press' Publishing Consulting Services Program. You can choose one, two or all three - depending on what you feel is most necessary or important to your manuscript and what is most relevant to meeting your objectives. Should you recognize the value of any or all of our services and you'd like to explore the possibility of becoming a Gold Leaf Press client, you may send an inquiry by visiting our Contact page.
Publishing Consulting
Gold Leaf Press was formed in the early ‘90s because of Rebecca J. Ensign’s tacit understanding of the innovations in electronic print technology and its applications to the publishing industry. Having maintained that pace for the past 12 years, Gold Leaf Press is well-versed and experienced in the next two progressions of publishing technology – ebooks and online distance learning via content conversion.
While not always applicable, many manuscripts and published books that come into Gold Leaf Press’ program are ideally suited for conversion to an online course or an ebook – initially, supplementally or exclusively. An analysis of your manuscript or book’s suitability for these mediums is incorporated into your initial Editorial Assessment, Marketing Assessment or Publishing Consultation.
Gold Leaf Press works with you to determine which publishing path is best suited for you, your manuscript, your budget and your objectives. We can also design your cover for you, write your cover or jacket promotional copy, design, layout and prepare your manuscript for print and select and manage the book manufacturing process. This is viable if you choose Gold Leaf Press' Collaborative publishing model, to self-publish or publish through a book packager, any one of which is often-times the best overall route to take.
The costs for these services are determined on a per project/task basis. Throughout the consulting period, however, we will address and determine many of the above aspects before the manuscript is completed and prepared for publishing as an added value to our Editorial Consulting program.
Marketing, Publicity, Reviews, Sales and Distribution
Phase III - Without question, this is the weakest link in the author’s, book packager’s and publisher’s chain. Essentially, you can have the definitive book on the timeliest of topics, but if it isn’t properly positioned, postured and presented to each of its market segments it will forever remain “a really good book” – to the handful of people who read it. This is a given in the publishing world. However, what is often not given by publishers (even the “big houses”), “book marketers” and book marketing consultants is a detailed content-specific assessment of the book and author to identify their primary, secondary and tertiary markets, and the means, mediums and methods for cost-effectively penetrating them. This is left up to the author, with very little guidance.
Once your book is published, (whether you've been accepted into Gold Leaf Press' Collaborative Publishing program, self-published, co-published with a book packager, or will be published traditionally) Gold Leaf Press works with you to design and execute the best possible sales, marketing, publicity and promotion campaign for you and your book. This program is tailored to your book's universal market(s) as well as your strengths, preferences, objectives, time and logistic contraints and budget. Fee: Initial Marketing Assessment $295; additional services $75 per hour plus actual expenses.
