Specializations
The following genres are Gold Leaf Press’ core competencies and (not coincidentally) are your strong suits for launching a writing career or realizing your writing, publishing or career objectives. Furthermore, and no less important, if you find that you, your profession or recreational hobby falls into one of these categories, especially if you already have material created that could fall into one of these categories, we urge you to consider becoming published.
For instance, does your profession or avocation lend itself to conferences, conventions, trade shows or workshops? Do you attend them from time to time? Do you speak, present or participate at these events or are there opportunities available for you to do so? If your answer even borders on “yes”, you should have a published book.
And if you recognize the importance having a published book would be to your personal or professional aspirations but the thought of writing a book is simply too overwhelming, remember, Gold Leaf Press can ghostwrite or co-author your book for you. It would probably surprise you if you knew how many books are “written” this way. In fact, many of Gold Leaf Press’ titles were created from the author’s or client company’s handouts, spiral bound manuals and typewritten notes – always under the client’s supervision, of course.
Fiction
Novels are tough to write, get represented, have published and sell – if you’re not already a celebrity. [Note the word celebrity is used in lieu of author; Pamela Lee has two novels published so (sadly) the word author starts losing its meaning at a certain point.]
At any rate, while Gold Leaf Press welcomes the opportunity to conduct Editorial Assessments (extremely encouraged!) and Editorial Development [mandatory 90% of the time] for works of fiction, we can only collaborate on their publication in certain cases. For those others – such as Romance, Science Fiction, Intrigue and Espionage, etc – we can work with you to create magnetic query and cover letters and targeted, customized Agent lists in pursuit of Agent Representation and a traditional publishing contract.
We can also work with you after you have secured an agent to throw in our “two cents” regarding your contract (we basically let you know if it’s fair in terms of typical, traditional offers) and after publication, we can work with you to publicize, market and sell your book. Yes, that’s right – even if you’re published by a “big house” you still have a great deal of responsibility regarding making your books successful enough to get your publisher’s attention and your editor’s support.
So, what types of Fiction does Gold Leaf Press accept into its Collaborative Publishing Program?
Historical and Niche Fiction
Both of these sub-genres lend themselves to many more marketing options and sales channels because they offer more than just a good story. They educate and enlighten as well as entertain. Gold Leaf Press has placed its fiction titles in college courses around the country and specialty stores around the world.
If you are writing a work of fiction, or if you have completed a fiction manuscript, Gold Leaf Press heavily encourages you to schedule a Gold Leaf Press Editorial Assessment. It could save you years of frustration and hundreds of dollars in photocopying, postage and phone bills.

Goree Island
By Richard Harrison Goree
$15.00
One of the best illustrations of the potential of historical fiction, this book is a standard in its topical genres – African History and Goree Island (a island two miles off the coast of Dakar, Senegal that served as the primary slave depot for three centuries). Written by Richard Goree, a descendant of the island natives, this book has been referenced by national media (such as 20/20) and widely adopted at Universities and colleges nationally as required reading in African History courses. “I assure you there is nothing in African fiction to rival what [Goree] has done.” Eileen Julian, Professor, Indiana University. And it’s a great true story of the political dynamics on what was, for centuries, one of the most significant geographic holdings in the world.

The Heroes of Henley's Woods
By Mike Worden
$15.00
Talk about talking points- this book really has them. And they’re wrapped up nice and tightly in one of them most delightful coming of age stories you’ll ever read. Like baseball? 50s Nostalgia? Rock and roll? Boys being boys in 1957 Detroit? This book’s got all of that…. But let’s get back to baseball for a second – always a strong genre. Do you know how many ways a player can get out as either a runner or a batter? Mike Worden knew and the answer is in his book. And, as part of our marketing campaign, if a reader writes to Gold Leaf Press, we’ll send out the entire list. Part fiction, part autobiography, Mike Worden just thought he was writing his memoirs when he finished his manuscript and first approached Gold Leaf Press. But we saw so much more……. Fortunately so did Baseball Weekly, book reviewers, sportswriters and readers across the U.S.
